About Us

We are Not Your Ordinary Dancers (N.Y.O.D). Our dance studio is located in Port Monmouth, NJ.  We offer a wide variety of dance classes for young children through adult. Our classes include jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, modern, contemporary, creative movement, acro and many more. We also pride ourselves on our comprehensive ballet program. In addition, if we don't have a class that you are looking for, please let us know. We are always happy to create new classes based on the requests of our parents and students. We think you will find our studio a creative place to learn dance technique, build self-esteem, participate in community events and have fun!

We offer our students many performance opportunities. In the past, this has included our Winter Showcase and Spring Recital, as well as community performances and competition opportunities.  Each year as part of our Spring Recital we stage a ballet production.  We have presented "Giselle", "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake",  "Cinderella", "Don Quixote", "La Bayadere", "Nutcracker", "Coppelia" , "Dr. Ouch"  and "Le Corsaire" .

We know you will find our studio inviting and fun as we put a strong focus on the experience and dance education of every student that walks through our doors.

Community involvement

Picture
Since we opened in 2000, each October our students “Paint the Studio Pink" in support of breast cancer research. We’ve held benefit auctions, dance-a-thon’s, dinners, Halloween parties all to benefit the “Dancers Care Foundation”. To date we have raised over $30,000 which has been donated to the Weill Cornell for Cancer Research. Our entire studio gets involved in this effort each year; we hope you can join us.In addition we have participated in the 'Why When You Can Dance' Breast Cancer Benefit, joining in with other local dance studios to support the cause.

We have also participated in the Parkinson's Walk in New York City and recently participated in a dance-a-thon event to benefit the K. Hovanian Children's hospital in September of last year.

In addition to fundraising we also love to perform for our community. We have participated in the Highlands Tree Lighting, the Keyport Tree Lighting, Holmdel Day, Hazlet Day, and we hold an annual holiday show performance as well as our end of the year recital.
